At only 11 years old, Casey D. is Music & Rock School’s longest-running voice lesson veteran. Her two years of lessons under instructor Johanna has helped foster a strong love of performing, leading to Casey singing at eight different MaRS events and even searching out other performance opportunities outside the school – on a slightly larger scale. Last year, Casey was chosen to sing the National Anthem at the Durham Bulls Ballpark before the game!
When we asked Casey (who goes by the stagename KC) what her favorite song to perform was, she couldn’t choose, claiming they were all fun. However, when asked about her favorite part of lessons, she knew exactly what her answer was. “My instructor Johanna. She is so nice and really encouraging.” She also caters to Casey’s love of female pop stars, in the past helping her prepare to perform songs by Adele, Selena Gomez and Colbie Caillat. Next on her radar? “I want to learn how to sing “Edge of Glory” by Lady Gaga or “Domino” by Jessie J.”
Casey also participates in her school choir and sings in her church rock band. At this rate, we think she had better get used to the big crowds, because we foresee a lot more in her future!
